This speech was made at the time President Jimmy Carter was rearming Der Judenstaat in preparation for Reagan's 1982 Green Light invasion of Lebanon, where 20,000 Lebanese were killed in the first two weeks of the attacks. I remember Carter travelling to Israel and making the obligatory presence at the so-called holocaust memorial. The slack-jawed Jimmy stood there in awe as the shadow of the infernal flames flickered across Jimmy's face. Jimmy Carter said, "Unbelievable!" The quick-witted Begin turned to Jimmy and in that syrupy thick Polish/Yiddish accent said, "but it is true."
